Smart irrigation

Water the plants, not the pavement

Spray heads lose water to wind, heat and runoff. Drip puts it at the roots. We change the zones and set the controller.

What we check first

  • Which zones feed grass and which feed plants

  • Pressure and line condition

  • Where the valves and the controller are

What we do

Four jobs on a watering system

  • Spray to drip

Zones that feed plants become drip lines with emitters sized to each plant.

  • Controller setup

We program days and run times to your water authority's current rules. You confirm the rules; we enter them.

  • Leaks and broken heads

We find the break, repair the line and replace the head or emitter.

  • A zone map

A sketch of your valves and zones, so the next person knows what feeds what.

What it costs

What moves the price of irrigation work

  • What decides the price

The number of zones and what is wrong with them.

    • Zones to convert

    • Pipe age and condition

    • Controller type

    • Trenching through rock or caliche

  • What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't

A written list of zones, parts and the work on each.

    • Not included: new water meters or backflow work unless listed

  • What happens at the visit

We run each zone with you, mark what leaks and note where the lines go.

  • When you get the number

    In writing after the visit.

Through the year

How the controller changes with the season

Your water authority sets watering days and times by season. We enter what it publishes now; check its page for changes.

Winter

Fewer, shorter runs. Plants are mostly resting.

Spring

Runs lengthen as growth starts. We check emitters for clogs.

Summer

The longest runs, early in the day. New plants may need a deeper soak.

Fall

Runs shorten again. The best time to add plants.

Questions

About watering

Can I keep my sprinklers for the grass I keep?

Yes. We leave those zones as they are and change only the ones that feed plants.

Do I need a new controller?

Not always. We test the one you have at the visit and say whether it can be programmed to current rules.

What if a line breaks after you leave?

Call or message us and we will come look. What the estimate covers after the work is written on it, so ask before you sign.

Tell us what you see, or send a photo of the controller.
