Turf conversion
Lawn out, desert in, one yard at a time
We take out the grass, set the grade, change the sprinklers to drip and plant for the valley's heat.
What the scope covers
Turf removed and hauled off
Grade set so water leaves the house
Old spray zones changed to drip
Rock, boulders and edging
Plants, with holes drilled through caliche

How it works
What happens on site
- 01
Step 1: Mark and protect
We mark the lines and valves, and cap or protect what stays.
- 02
Step 2: Take out the turf
The grass and the top layer of soil come out and leave the site.
- 03
Step 3: Grade, drip and edge
We set the slope, run drip lines and install edging.
- 04
Step 4: Rock and plants
Rock goes down over fabric, boulders are set, and plants go in last.

Not included: permits, HOA fees and the rebate unless listed
What happens at the visit
We measure, find the valves and photograph the lawn. It is a walk with the person who will run your job.
When you get the number
In writing after the walk-through, with the stages of payment beside it.
When it happens
A year of conversions in the valley
Dates drift with the weather. The walk-through gives you a real window.
Oct – Mar
Planting season. Cooler soil lets desert plants root before summer.
Apr – May
Last plantings, then irrigation checks before the heat arrives.
Jun – Sep
Taking grass out, grading, rock and paths. Crews start early.
Jul – Sep storms
After monsoon storms we check grade, rock and drip lines on finished yards.
Questions
About taking the grass out
Will the plants survive the summer?
Desert plants still need water while they root. The drip lines are set to that, and the plant list says which ones want shade in the first summer.
What is caliche?
A hard, cemented layer under many valley yards. Water drains slowly through it, so we drill planting holes through it instead of digging around it.
How long does a conversion take?
It depends on the size and the access. The written estimate gives a start window and a finish window for your yard.
Do I need to be home?
For the walk-through, yes, or someone you send. During the work we need gate access and to know where your valves are.
